Hand-Held, Battery-Operated Can Opener

I’m an old-fashioned guy when it comes to can openers. I like the manual hand-crank variety. But Handan can’t stand those, and when she saw this little marvel, she made me buy it for her (and of course for me). Well, she loves it and I have to admit it comes in handy, especially when I don’t want to use all the contents of a can (I’m looking at you, tomato paste!). Because it lifts the entire lid off instead of cutting it, you can refit that lid, and stick the can in the fridge for storage. I can’t do that with my old-timey can opener!

Stuff We Own and Love

Handan’s Favorite Tablecloth

Got this in Georgia, and my babes loves it! Many other styles and sizes to choose from – all on sale!

Serbian Chef Knife

I bought this exact knife last winter and paid double for it (and still thought it was a great deal at $40). This steel wonder has replaced my two fancy knives I bought back in 2010. Those knives were a couple of hundred bucks back then (and now worth over $1000, as they are discontinued). They are now paperweights in my knife drawer thanks to this $20 beast!

Self-Leveling Cross Line Laser Level

This is one of the best purchases I’ve ever made!

Franklin Sensors Stud Finder

Another favorite purchase – goes hand-in-hand with the laser level!

All-Clad Ha1 Hard Anodized Nonstick 10 Piece Cookware Set

I bought this set two years ago, and I absolutely love them!

Adjustable Drawer Dividers

Since downsizing the kitchen from Georgia to Florida, these have been a lifesaver as I try to fit all (or most) of my previous utensils and gadgets into more limited drawer space!

Breville Espresso Machine

We use it every day, all day, no exceptions! Still going strong since 2013!

T-Fal Deep Fryer

You need this, if only to make the best buffalo wings in the world!

Sous Vide Cooker

A must for perfectly cooked roasts and steaks!

Immersion Blender

Just a handy little thing to have around!

Food Saver Vacuum Sealer

We buy meat in bulk and save tons of money. This helps keep it fresh in the freezer for longer.

Knife Sharpener

Couldn’t live without it!

Digital Thermometer

Another must-have for anyone serious about their meat!

Grout-Eez Grout Cleaner

So good, I wrote a post about it! I’ve heard back from so many of you who’ve bought it, and the results have been 100% positive!

Anti-Fatigue Floor Mat

These mats are a godsend for those long nights in the kitchen!

La Crosse Color Forecast Station

Great upgrade from the old black and white one I had in Connecticut!

Portable Doggy Water Bottle

We just bought this for our girls. Perfect for walks in the hot Florida sun (or even just sitting outside)!

Have fun and enjoy your shopping!

  1. What’s that noise? Oh just my bank account dwindling!! Thank you for the post!!! Cant wait for prime days! Love your posts/how tos!

  2. As usual, another great post! Any heads up on camera deals on Prime Days? We’ve been members for years but haven’t shopped Prime Day ?
How exactly do you find what the deals are? Thanks in advance!

  3. I love my Amazon Prime. But when the heck is the second season if Jack Ryan starting already!?
I don’t have an Alexa though because whio knows what my talking parrot would order. I shudder to think.

      1. She already has a snarky sense of humor. I don’t need to encourage her. She loves to say yogurt for some reason so I have visions of her ordering cases of Yoplait if we had an Alexa. And she would probably amuse herself by telling it to turn the lights on and off. This is a bird who asked us “what’s a casino?” when she overheard us talking about Foxwoods. She can be downright freaky with her language comprehension and use.

        1. Holy crap, that’s amazing! Birds are amazing creatures. I know ravens and crows are incredibly intelligent, but I wasn’t aware that parrots could do more than, well, “parrot!”

  4. I’ve been a Prime Member since 2000, Love, Love, Love Amazon…got a few deals today and even purchased a Christmas Present. Thanks for the post I might have missed the sale I’ve been so busy.

  5. Thanks for the links! The thought of venturing into Primeland and finding deals felt daunting and this helps. 🙂

  6. Please check out AllClad HA1 cookware before you get a new set. Just the best to use! You have to watch the ‘numbers’-HA1 is rounded sides, B1 is blacker and straighter but the same. You do NOT want NS1 or Essentials, and the best prices are usually not on Amazon. Just FYI Thanks for this post, I am gettin g the stick blender.

    1. I will certainly have a look at those. I have All Clad now – they’ve been great! Maybe I’ll get a set of T-fal for Handan and some new All Clad for me! 🙂

  7. Our anti-fatigue mats do double duty. Offer cushion when standing on hard surface flooring and they help hold the area rug in place (we put them underneath). Love those!!

  8. I ordered my first Rumba today. Can’t wait to not have to drag out my other vacuums. Prime is killer …. to my bank account. And Christmas is just a blink away. Yikes! Love your blog and your tips and tricks. Hope you are getting settled. I came through Atlanta on my way from visiting relatives in Knoxville. Came straight through downtown instead of taking the bypass and honestly I think it was quicker. Keep on keeping on!!! (old country saying).

  9. Great post! I have many pieces of All Clad and have been extremely happy with “all” of it. Something you may not know; it’s manufactured outside of Bridgeville, PA, a town south of Pittsburgh. Twice a year (I believe it’s the first weekend of June and December) they have a sale at the local fairgrounds. They call it a seconds sale but you would have a very hard time to figure out why it’s a second. That’s where I’ve bought mine and have all I will ever need. My favorite is the lasagna pan. After 10 years it is still as nice as the day we bought. Cleans up beautifully! Now it’s time to shop the deals.

  10. The only real thing I would disagree with on this list, other than a sous vide which I personally feel is a useless item that manufacturers keep trying to push on people, is the ThermoPro thermometer. I would skip that one and just go to the ThermoWorks website and buy one of theirs. It will cost more but it will be worth it. Also the Thermapen Mk4 is $30.00 off right now.

Just a note. Unless they changed their policy you cannot buy their products on Amazon. if you see one it is probably a fake.

    1. Hi Jerry, thanks for your input! While I agree that the thermometer listed may not be top-of-the-line, it is adequate for most people and is a fantastic upgrade from the totally inaccurate analog over thermometers. Regarding sous vide – I couldn’t live without it! I got one a few years ago, and I use it at least twice a week. It all depends on what kind of cooking/grilling you do. For some, it would be useless, but for others, it’s a godsend! 🙂

  11. Greg, Thanks for this post. I’ve also been watching the deal guy youtube video (Matt Granite doing hourly updates but I’ve got no time to watch that all day lol). First of all, I made my first ever impulsive purchase thanks to you! I bought that outdoor/indoor portable screen + projector. Holy cow, I better read up more on it soon within the return period lol. We’ve been shopping for a new home and this one will be handy we thought. Please let us know your thoughts on setting up etc. Now…on to the dud…I had the iRumba 7550 in the cart for 3 days and guess what, the price went UP by $100 for prime day! And to boot, the same thing happened to the iRumba mopper too! I don’t like these types of gimmicks 🙁 I am not a happy prime member today. Oh well, life goes on.

    1. Oh wow, really?? That’s crazy that they raised the price! Give it time, it may come down again. We’ll be setting the projector up outside when we eventually get around to that part of the yard. Now word yet on when that will be!! 🙂

  12. I wish there was a way to email you privately to let you know that I am so much more interested in all the wonderful crafty and clever things you post videos for than a commercial for Amazon Prime Days. I’m no longer a Prime member (long story) but please stay with the cool crafts and ideas. I have been Navage Patch fan for YEARS! Love your stuff.

    1. Thank you, Ellen – you can always reach me at greg@thenavagepatch.com. All our crafty ideas and projects will carry on, no worries there. Prime Day is a big event for us, and I know a lot of people like that we curate our own list of goodies from the millions listed on Amazon. most people don’t have the time or energy to comb through all the sales, so it’s a little service we provide. We’ll be back later in the week with more projects! 🙂

  13. Hi Greg & Handan – I hope you are enjoying your summer days. Thank you for the Amazon deals that you shared. I just bought my “Jersey Boy” (aka husband) the De Walt Sander that you recommended.
