We’re back with more free printable wall art for you! This time, we’ve put together an awesome assortment of laundry room printables you’re sure to love!
Was this the face that launch’d a thousand ships,
And burnt the topless towers of Ilium?
–Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe
If you’re wondering why I’m quoting a 16th century Elizabethan tragedy to kick off a post about free printable wall art for your laundry room, well, then, Brava, madam! You’re paying attention!
The face in question belonged to Helen of Troy, said to be the most beautiful woman in the world. Though she was married to the curmudgeonly King Menelaus of Sparta, she was abducted by her lover, Prince Paris of Troy. This did not sit well with her crabby husband who threw a tantrum of mythological proportions which resulted in the decade-long Trojan War.
Such is the power of a pretty face.
Just as Helen’s face launched a thousand ships and set into motion one of the most important events in Greek Mythology, so the picture below set into motion the great siege of laundry room printables that started with last week’s Laundry Room Vintage Patent Prints post and continues today with more free laundry room wall art printables.
Handan spotted this picture on Ballard Designs website. She showed it to me and said she wanted to do some similar laundry room printables. Two things immediately struck me about the Ballard Designs listing:
- They were selling that laundry print for $120! And that was on sale! Jeezum Crow, who would spend that kind of money on a glorified dictionary snippet?
- Apparently that thing is called a giclée, and if you don’t know how to pronounce that word, then welcome to the club! Okay, actually, I looked it up, so I know how to pronounce it now: zhee-KLAY. Every time I say it or hear it, it annoys the crap out of me. How can one word be so annoying? I just said the word in my head, and I’m seriously considering punching myself in the face.
Talk about the power of branding and marketing! “Giclée” is a French term for a high-quality fine-art printout coined by a California printmaker in 1991. Yep, it’s just a printout. Well, guess what, folks, we’re giving you all the giclée you can handle, and it won’t cost you one thin dime!
In this hectic, topsy-turvy world, it’s easy to forget the important things in life – like the true meaning of laundry. Let this printable be your daily reminder that you are constantly surrounded by laundry. It’s in your drawers, it’s in your hamper, it’s probably on your floor, and it is most certainly clinging to your body.
The happy polka dots and joyful flowers on these clothespins belie their sinister reality: never-ending, back-breaking labor.
Said no one, ever…
I’m all for dropping my pants, especially when I’m ordered to do so.
Except at the doctor’s office, because at my age, no good comes of that.
Throw it in, anyway. You can’t win this game.
I understand the first three, but I’m a little fuzzy on the last two.
I’ll just leave this here with no comment. You can decide whether it applies to you or not 😉
As usual some generic information on today’s printables: we designed these laundry room free printable wall art in two sizes and several colors. All will fit into a 16×20 inch frame or a 24×36 poster frame, though you may scale them up or down as necessary. 24×36 inch scales down easily to 20×30 / 16×24 / 12×18 / 8×12 / 4×6 inches, and 16×20 inch scales down to 12×15 / 8×10 / 4×5 inches with no problems. If you need help with scaling down these printables so you can print them using your home printer, then make sure you check out Handan’s “How To Easily Resize Pictures” post.
Also, if you don’t have a large format printer like Canon i8720 Printer (prints up to 13×19 inches) and are wondering the best place to get these printables printed bigger than 8×12, we recommend trying Staples in your area or Amazon print shop. Both stores offer custom-sized prints on matte or glossy paper, and they both cost about the same. Staples also offers Engineering Prints, which are really affordable for large-format prints, but in some areas (like ours), they must be ordered from their online print shop.
